Shri V S Balasubramanian

Shri V S Balasubramanian has been appointed as Joint Director [JD], Bankers Institute of Rural Development, Mangaluru with effect from 03 July 2023. He holds a graduate degree in Agricultural Engineering, from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore and Master Degree in Soil & Water Conservation Engineering from India’s premier educational institute, Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur (IITKGP). He is a certificate holder of Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) from Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Besides CAIIB, he had also completed a short course on IWRM as a Tool for Adaptation to Climate Change at UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, Delft, Netherlands.

Shri V S Balasubramanian has rich experience at various managerial levels of NABARD in different States since his joining NABARD in 1999. His major experience include areas spanning Integrated and Participatory Watershed Development & Management, Participatory Planning relating to Natural Resources, Climate Change Adaptation, Impact Assessment and Management of Community Resources,  Monitoring & Evaluation, Rural Infrastructure Development, Project Appraisal etc.

He had also headed the Programme Management Unit of South Zone at Bangalore from 2011-2016 under Umbrella Programme on Natural Resource Management (UPNRM), a joint initiative of NABARD, GIZ and KfW.

During his tenure as Faculty member in BIRD Mangaluru, he had handled varied types of programs on Natural Resource Management, Climate Change Adaptation, ESG, Climate Smart Agriculture, Green and Sustainable Finance, Water Resources and Land Development, Rural Infrastructure, Producers’ Organisations, Project Financing & Risk Management, Livelihoods Development etc.
