International Study Visit programme on ‘Innovations in Rural and Agricultural Finance and Agri-Business Promotion & Export (Philippines Experience)-26-30 Jan 2026 organised by BIRD, Mangaluru

The programme offered 25 participants - consisting of 02 IAS Officers, Chairperson of seven Regional Rural Banks, senior officials of State Governments, Cooperative Banks, NABARD and its subsidiaries- a comprehensive understanding of how the Philippines has built institutional mechanisms for advancing rural finance, agricultural value chains, MSME development, and export-linked enterprise ecosystems.

BIRD Mangaluru conducts 14th Stakeholders Consultation Committee Meeting on 30 January 2026

BIRD Mangaluru conducted the 14th Stakeholders Consultation Committee (SCC) Meeting on 30 January 2026 under the chairmanship of Shri Dinesh P., CGM HRMD, NABARD, Head Office. The meeting was attended by members from various stakeholder institutions including Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh State Coop. Bank Ltd. (APCOB), Managing Director, Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank, senior officers from CAB, RBI, Pune, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Karnataka Bank, Kerala Grameena Bank, Karnataka Grameena Bank, Karnataka State Co-Op Apex Bank Ltd., and Kerala State Co-Op Bank Ltd.  Senior officials from Baroda Apex Academy, Canara Institute of Bank Management, Manipal, SAHRDA, the South Canara District Central Co-op Bank Ltd., ACSTIs, Karnataka SRLM, NAARM, Hyderabad, Sa-Dhan, National Institute of Technology-Karnataka, Centre for Research and Development (CRD), YIASCM, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, Manipal School of Commerce and Economics, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, SKDRDP, Bangady PACS, Kota PACS, Alankar PACS and Mandarthi PACS also participated. BIRD Mangaluru conducts three On-Location Training Programmes at Imphal for Officials of The Manipur State Cooperative Bank Ltd (08-15 Dec 2025)

BIRD Mangaluru organized and conducted three on-location training programmes at Imphal during 08–15 December 2025, in collaboration with NABARD Regional Office, Manipur and BIRD Kolkata. The trainings aimed to build capacity among MStCB officials on critical areas such as Risk Management, Fraud Control and Internal Checks, and Business Development and Profit Planning. These topics were chosen considering the operational challenges, regulatory requirements, and strategic need for strengthening governance and profitability in cooperative banking.

Strengthening Academic Collaboration and Rural Innovation: Engagements between BIRD Mangaluru and NITK Surathkal

A strategic meeting was held between the BIRD Mangaluru delegation and the Director of NITK to explore collaborative opportunities in academic innovation and rural development.  The BIRD team comprised Smt. Sheela Bhandarkar and Shri Baidya Nath Singh while NITK was represented by Dr. Subray R. Hegde, Director In-Charge, NITK – Science and Technology Entrepreneurs’ Park (STEP), and Dr. V. Gangadharan, Professor and Coordinator, Centre for System Design.
