Independence Day Celebration at BIRD, Mangaluru

78th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2024 at Bankers Institute of Rural Development, Mangaluru with utmost pride. The program was attended by Faculty members, Officers, Staff members, Contract staff of the Institute and their family members. The National Flag was hoisted by the Joint Director, Shri V.S. Balasubramanian.

Congratulating the gathering on the occasion, the Joint Director enumerated the sacrifice and contribution of our freedom fighters, including women warriors. He emphasised on the need for recognising contribution of women in various spheres of life and upholding their esteem. He also underscored the importance of protecting and nurturing the environment in the wake of global climate catastrophes and called for responsible practices towards inclusive growth.

Staff and family members celebrated the occasion with patriotic songs and cultural events. Saplings were planted, contributing towards greening of the campus.

DMD Shri G S Rawat inaugurates International Conference on Decarbonising Agriculture-2023 and visits BIRD, Mangaluru

Shri G S Rawat, DMD, NABARD visited Mangaluru on 25 November 2023, as a Chief Guest to inaugurate International Conference on Decarbonising Agriculture 2023 (ICDA 2023) organised at T. M. Pai International Convention Centre Mangaluru. Shri G S Rawat, DMD, in his inaugural address highlighted the important role played by NABARD in sustainable agriculture and sustainable finance since inception.

As part of his tour, DMD visited BIRD, Mangaluru and addressed the faculty members, officers and staff members. DMD inaugurated the Children’s Park at BIRD-Mangaluru campus providing better amenities to the residents of the Institution. During the tour around the campus, he appreciated the various initiatives taken towards water conservation.

77th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2023 at BIRD, Mangaluru with pride and pomp. All the Faculty members, Officers, Staff members, Contract staff and their families, attended the program. The Joint Director hoisted the flag and addressed the participants. All the officers and employees have actively taken part in “Har Ghar Triranga” and administered “Panch Paran pledge on Meri Maati Mera Desh”. 75 saplings were also planted to mark the occasion.

Shri. V S Balasubramanian took over as Joint Director, BIRD Mangaluru

Shri V S Balasubramanian has been appointed as Joint Director [JD], Bankers Institute of Rural Development, Mangaluru with effect from 03rd July 2023.
Shri V S Balasubramanian has rich experience at various managerial levels of NABARD in different States since his joining NABARD in 1999. His major experience include areas spanning Integrated and Participatory Watershed Development & Management, Participatory Planning relating to Natural Resources, Climate Change Adaptation, Impact Assessment and Management of Community Resources, Monitoring & Evaluation, Rural Infrastructure Development, Project Appraisal etc.

“World Environment Day Celebrations” - 05 June 2023

The 50th World Environment Day was celebrated at BIRD-Mangaluru on 05 June 2023. To mark this occasion, Shri V.S.Balasubramanian, DGM/OiC inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling. Senior officers, staff members and participants of the on-going training programme also joined by planting saplings in BIRD, Campus.

Shri V.S. Balasubramanian DGM/OIC addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of World Environment Day and its significance. He urged upon the gathering to create awareness on conservation and protection of the environment with special focus on the solutions/alternate for plastic usage and keep the surroundings clean.

Client Consultation Committee Meeting of Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Mangaluru – 17th February 2023

Client Consultation Committee (CCC) Meeting of Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Mangaluru was organised on 17th February 2023. The Committee discussed activities of the Institute during the current year, in terms of conducting training programmes, coverage of topics and also recommended the action plan for the year 2023-24. The meeting was attended by 25 members from various stakeholder Institutions like Banks and other Training Establishments which saw senior level participation such as MDs of APStCB, Telangana StCB, Kerala StCB, TNStCB and Puducherry StCB and Principals of various training institutions. Chairman of many RRBs, GMs/DGMs of Karnataka Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Principals of training institutions had also participated in the meeting.
